tips for avoiding infection and overdose

  • test your supply
Avoid accidental overdose from fentanyl by using these test strips or using a drug checking program to test your drugs before using them.
  • carry naloxone
Naloxone (Narcan®) is a medicine that can be used to reverse an opioid overdose. It can save your life or another’s life.
  • don’t mix drugs
Avoid mixing drugs, which can create unpredictable, dangerous, and even deadly results.
  • use new syringes/smoking supplies
Reduce the chance of getting an infection by using new, sterile syringes, pipes and new works (e.g., filters, mouthpieces and cookers) every time you use.
  • never use alone
You can’t Narcan yourself!  Have at least one other person present who is carrying naloxone and not using at the same time.
